Robert Kahn is a trial lawyer and for more than 43 years, he has achieved success for his clients in numerous judge and jury trials, as well as in arbitrations and the appellate courts. When the law provides the necessary support, Mr. Kahn will use it to its fullest, but when the time comes to move in a different direction, as it was in such diverse areas and past cases as the federal Petroleum Marketing Practices Act and California’s Usury Law, Mr. Kahn has not hesitated to make new law.
After many years of successfully trying construction defect and professional liability defense cases, Mr. Kahn was accorded the distinct honor of being inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in North America. Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality.
Most recently, Mr. Kahn was invited to become and is now a member of the prestigious and critically important American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), a national, invitation-only trial attorney association dedicated, among other worthy goals, to preserving and protecting the constitutional right to a civil jury trial and an independent judiciary.
For over 30 years, Mr. Kahn served as the primary outside trial counsel for an international geotechnical and environmental engineering firm, routinely taking cases to trial when it advanced the interests of the client.
A seasoned trial attorney, Mr. Kahn is also an approved panel counsel for a national insurance carrier specializing in construction defect and professional liability defense claims and litigation.
Mr. Kahn received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley, in 1977, graduating With Highest Honors (summa cum laude) and an invitation to membership in the academic honor society, Phi Beta Kappa. In 1980, Mr. Kahn obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and became a member of the California Bar the same year.
Mr. Kahn is a member of the California, District of Columbia and Washington State bars. He has also served as pro hac vice trial counsel in the state courts of Maryland and Nevada as well as in federal district court in Pennsylvania.
